This pattern is not only moveable up and down the FRETS of the neck (horizontally), it is also "rotatable" across the STRINGS of the neck.  The root note
When you run out of notes


If any portion of the pattern lands on strings 2-3, shift the pattern apart 1 fret:  move the 2nd and 1st strings UP 1 fret, or move the 3rd and all lower strings DOWN 2 fret.
